How to authenticate a power of attorney?

Czech citizens wanting to have a Power of Attorney authenticated for use in the Czech Republic have a number of options available to them but these options DO NOT INCLUDE being able to obtain such verification from the Honorary Consulate in Malta.

The available options are:

  1. Have the document legalised by a Maltese notary, Apostilled and then officially translated into Czech. A list of authorised translators are available on the Identità web site. We would recommend that you consult the list of notaries published by the Council of Notaries in where you would be able to find an alphabetical list of notaries in Malta.

  2. Await the next visit of the Consul General from the Rome Embassy.

  3. Visit the Embassy in Rome, after making an appointment.  Click here for contact details of the Czech Embassy in Rome.

  4. Visit the Czech Republic and obtain the authentication by a lawyer in the Czech Republic.

While these options may not be convenient, these are the only available options at the moment.
