On the occasion of the New Year, Her Excellency Dr Myriam Spiteri Debono, President of the Republic of Malta, hosted the traditional exchange of greetings with the Honorary Consular Corps at the historic Presidential Palace in Valletta.

During the event, the President of the Republic reflected on Malta’s diplomatic achievements in 2024 and outlined aspirations for the year ahead while also thanking the Honorary Consuls for the assistance they provide to foreign nationals who may be residing or visiting Malta that find themselves requiring help. Dr. Ian Borg, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Tourism, was also in attendance, along with numerous Honorary Consuls accredited to Malta.

The Czech Republic was proudly represented by its Honorary Consul in Malta, Mr. John de Giorgio, who joined his counterparts in celebrating the occasion and reaffirming the strong bilateral ties between Malta and the Czech Republic.

The gathering was followed by a similar exchange of greetings with Prime Minister Dr. Robert Abela at the Auberge de Castille, the Prime Minister’s official office in Valletta.

These annual ceremonies underscore Malta’s commitment to fostering diplomatic relationships and provide an opportunity to strengthen the collaborative efforts between nations represented in Malta, including the Czech Republic.
