Year of Czech Music Celebrated in Malta

The Year of Czech Music 2024 was celebrated in Malta through a wonderful concert held at Malta’s national theatre, the Teatru Manoel on the 18 September 2024.

The Czech trio, Trio Incendio, were a fitting group of young musicians to showcase music through their passion and skill. Founded in 2016, Trio Incendio has quickly established itself as one of the most distinctive young European ensembles which already performed in some of the finest European venues like the Wigmore Hall, Philharmonie Berlin or Rudolfinum in Prague.

The event was well attended including by members of the Czech community and members of the diplomatic corp all keen to enjoy the choice of Czech and Hungarian music. The concert consisted of the following pieces:

🎵 Bohuslav Martinů: Trio No. 3 in C, H.332
🎵 Ferenc (Franz) Liszt: Tristia for Piano Trio, S. 378c (after La Valée d’Obermann)
🎵 Antonín Dvořák: Trio Nr. 2 g-Moll, Op. 26

Their visit to Malta was funded and arranged by the Centro Ceco at the Czech Embassy in Rome, whose Director, Mr Robert Mikoláš, also attended the concert together with Mr Petr Havlik, the Minister Counsellor responsible for Economic, Commercial and Scientific Affairs at the Embassy of Czechia to Malta, representing Ambassador Jan Kohout, and the Honorary Consul of the Czech Republic in Malta, Mr John de Giorgio.

The Centro Cecu would like to recognise the crucial assistance of Mr Adrian Mamo, Artistic Director of Teatru Manoel, to bring this successful concert to fruition.
