The opportunities to boost trade between the Czech Republic and Malta was the focus of a meeting held between the President of The Malta Chamber,  Mr Christopher Vassallo Cesario, the Minister Counsellor responsible for Economic, Commercial and Scientific Affairs at the Embassy of Czechia to Malta, Mr Petr Havlik, and the Honorary Consul of the Czech Republic in Malta, Mr John de Giorgio.

The meeting,  held at the premises of The Malta Chamber in Republic Street, Valletta on the 18th September 2024, is a bid to strengthen economic and bilateral trade between the countries and to explore new opportunities for collaboration between the two countries.

During the meeting, both parties emphasized the importance of enhancing bilateral trade relations, particularly in sectors such as the food & beverage sector, manufacturing, information technology, financial services and tourism.

Mr. Havlik underscored the potential for Maltese businesses to expand into the Central European market through partnerships with Czech companies as well as to expand their portfolio of products and services for the Maltese market through partnerships.

A firm interest already exists for Czech companies to foster stronger commercial ties with Malta, noting that Czech companies are keen to explore opportunities in Malta’s growing financial services, information technology, and specialised health equipment sectors.

The meeting concluded with a commitment to organize further discussions and events including a Doing Business with the Czech Republic seminar early in 2025 which aims to bring together business communities from both countries, facilitating networking and collaboration.

Both sides expressed optimism about the future of trade relations and pledged to continue working closely to unlock new economic opportunities for businesses in Malta and the Czech Republic.

Companies interested to learn more about the commercial opportunities for Czech and Maltese companies are recommended to contact the Honorary Consulate of the Czech Republic in Malta.
